THE ICON OF GRAN PERFORMANCE. M Performance The BMW M8 Concept Gran Coupe…

What causes Northern Lights and other natural phenomena? Learn everything about exciting light phenomena like polar lights, whose shimmering colors may bring to mind the exclusive flip-flop paint finish on the BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe. The eye-catching effects enhance the already stunning presence of the concept car, imbuing it with an incomparable aura.
Polar Lights
When lights whirl over the clear winter night sky north of the Arctic Circle, everyone raves about the fascinating spectacle. The polar lights are nature’s mystical show and appear when electrically-charged particles are transported over the earth’s atmosphere via a solar wind, thus activating a celestial extravaganza of light.
The typical colour of this celestial phenomenon ‘ also called the Northern Lights ‘ is a bright green ‘ which, like the ‘Saléve Vert’ on the BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe, can change to a greyish blue. Polar lights also appear in red, violet, white and yellow.
What many people don’t know: The Northern Lights can also be admired at the earth’s South Pole: the so-called Southern Lights.
Bio-luminescence
What looks like a scene from the movie ‘Avatar’ is in reality one of nature’s wonders. Microscopic algae fluorescently light up the water at night. Biologists call this light phenomenon bioluminescence. It can be observed, for example, on the beach of Mosquito Bay on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico.
Algae can produce glow through biochemical processes in special organs. But other living beings also have this ability. Fireflies, for example, communicate this way.
In 2017, researchers actually succeeded in using enzymes to transform plants into natural light sources, which could replace conventional lamps in the future.
Polar stratospheric clouds
The world-famous painting ‘The Scream’ by the Norwegian painter Edvard Munch is said to be inspired by the breath-taking glimmering of the polar stratospheric clouds. The phenomenon ‘ called ‘mother-of-pearl clouds’ ‘ arises from tiny ice crystals in the stratosphere, which are illuminated by the setting sun in the dark night sky. The rare colourful clouds form at temperatures of -78 degrees Celsius and can therefore only be admired near polar regions such as Alaska, Siberia and Norway.
Ice Crystal Halos
What looks to us like a supernatural halo in the sky is the fascinating light phenomenon of the ice crystal halos. Halos are formed by the reflection and refraction of light on tiny floating ice crystals in the air. The mysterious light-circles form in various shapes around the sun and moon and can be admired all over the world at any time of the year.
Fog arch

Everyone has seen a colourful rainbow before. Much less common is a fog arch or white rainbow, whose light band is twice as wide. The fog arch is created when a fog wall of fine water droplets is illuminated by sunlight and the light is reflected when entering and leaving.
The fog arch can only be observed when the observer stands in front of the fog wall with his back to the sun. It can be found in a wide variety of places, but it is particularly frequent in peat bogs, mountainous regions or near the sea.
What is flip-flop paint finish?
A flip-flop paint finish is a special-effect varnish that changes its colour depending on the viewing angle and is usually used for car paint. To achieve the optical effect, the normal varnish is mixed with effect pigments. The pigments responsible for the colour change are called interference pigments. Depending on the viewing angle, these interference pigments amplify some wavelengths, while other wavelengths are eliminated by superimposing them

In the BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe, the luxurious flip-flop paint finish ‘Saléve Vert’ gives the vehicle an unusual appearance. The colour changes from green to greyish blue depending on the changing light, emphasising the expressive surfaces and contours of the vehicle, as well as underscoring its sporty and elegant look.
By the way: there are also flip-flop paint finishes where not only the colour changes, but also the brightness. In addition to the automotive industry, flip-flop finishes are also used in the printing and cosmetics industry.
THE M8 GRAN COUPE CONCEPT

The design of the Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupé: Pure emotion

Reflecting the first design sketches.
“As a four-door coupé, the new CLA intrigues with its puristic, seductive design and sets new standards in the design DNA of ‘sensual purity’. It impresses with its perfect proportions reflecting the first design sketches: a long, stretched bonnet, a compact greenhouse, a wide track with exposed wheel arches and our typical GT rear end with a strong distinctive ‘Coke-bottle shoulder’,” says Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer of Daimler AG. “In short: The CLA Coupé has the potential to become a modern design icon.”

Sporty and elegant character.
The combination of the long, stretched entry line above the windows and frameless doors gives the CLA Coupé its unmistakeable sporty and elegant character. Forming the front end is the striking front section which is raked forwards like a shark nose with a long, stretched bonnet featuring powerdomes. Flat headlamps together with the low slung bonnet and the diamond radiator grille with central star create the vehicle’s sporty face. The two-piece, narrow tail lamps and the number plate housed in the bumper make the rear of the CLA look especially wide.

Sculptured rear.
With the greenhouse moved back, the sporty GT rear achieves a balance between elegance and sportiness. Featuring pared-down lines, the precisely modelled side profile provides an interesting interplay of light and shade. Dispensing with the upper shaped edge of the side wall permits extremely muscular and athletic shoulder shaping, stretching from the front wheel arch through to the sculptured rear. Flush with the outer edge of the body, the wheels with their flared wheel arches and wide track epitomise dynamism and give the vehicle a sporty presence.

Unique interior architecture.
In the interior, all elements are arranged according to the overarching design themes of ‘high tech’ and ‘youthful avant-garde’ – be that the steering wheel, the door handle operating module, the centre console or the seats. As in the A‑Class, the unique interior architecture is shaped in particular by the avant-garde design of the dashboard: the designers completely dispensed with a cowl above the cockpit. As a result, the wing-shaped main body of the dashboard extends from one front door to the other with no visual discontinuity. The widescreen display is completely free-standing. The lower section is visually separated from the main body of the instrument cluster by a ‘trench’, and it appears to float in front of the instrument cluster. The ambient lighting enhances this effect. The air vents in a sporty turbine-look are another highlight.

Car Design.
Design creates something out of the ordinary and makes a major contribution to shaping the brand image in the public eye. Today, the designers at Mercedes-Benz reconcile tradition and modernity in designing the cars of the future. Their creative efforts focus on sensuous clarity as the definition of modern luxury. This precisely expresses a fundamental aspect of the brand – the bipolarity of intelligence and emotion.

The new MercedesBenz CLA Coupé is not only the most emotional vehicle in its class, it is also highly intelligen

From MBUX Interior Assist, which recognises operational demands from gestures and equips the interior with intelligence, through augmented reality for navigation and understanding indirect voice commands to the ENERGIZING COACH that provides individual fitness recommendations, the new CLA offers an array of clever solutions. There are also ingenious details when it comes to the aerodynamics and new functions for the Intelligent Drive driving assistance package. The design underlines the coupé character with its stretched form and design elements such as the bonnet with powerdomes or the rear licence plate which has been moved down. As such it does justice to its predecessor’s status as a design icon.

With MBUX, Mercedes-Benz has been revolutionising how to operate a car and communicate with it since the launch of the A-Class. “Now we go to the next level with an intelligent interior assistance system for the compact class. By recognising gestures it facilitates natural operation,” says Ola Källenius, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, responsible for Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development. “This is not the only new feature by which the CLA offers a great deal of automotive intelligence.”
“With the first CLA we created a totally new segment with a four-door coupé and celebrated a huge success by selling some 750,000 CLA and Shooting Brake,” adds Britta Seeger, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing & Sales. “The new edition of the CLA has been developed further in an intelligent way and is even more emotional and sportier than its predecessor. Coupled with new operating systems, it sets new benchmarks for the entire class.”

The new generation of compacts has made a key contribution to the rejuvenation and image change of the Mercedes-Benz brand. The CLA is important for winning and retaining new customers in particular. The CLA Coupé was launched in the USA in 2013, making it the first compact Mercedes‑Benz on the American market. At peak times, more than two thirds of CLA buyers in the USA came from competitors. On average, CLA customers in the USA are around ten years younger than the typical Mercedes‑Benz customer. In Europe, too, CLA customers are among the youngest in the Mercedes portfolio. In 2017, one in two customers in Europe previously drove a competitor’s vehicle. Over 75 percent of European customers who previously drove a CLA as a coupé or Shooting Brake chose a Mercedes‑Benz again for their next vehicle. In total, some 750,000 units of the first-generation CLA Coupé and CLA Shooting Brake contributed considerably to the compact car’s success.
In its first year, the new CLA will also be available as an Edition 1.
In terms of both the exterior and the interior, this limited edition special model has numerous visual accents which underline its exclusivity. The new CLA will be manufactured at the Kecskemét plant (Hungary) and comes onto the market in May 2019.

* * * Hi-Lander 3.0 (lifted 4×2), trim style became available in late 2003, and ground clearance equals that of the 4×4 models. There are only two cab styles to choose between. This makes Isuzu the third manufacturer in Thailand to begin selling lifted 4×2 pickups (after Toyota and Ford).
In October 2004, Isuzu introduced the DDi iTEQ common-rail diesel engine family for the D-Max. The first engine to appear was the 3.0 4JJ1-TC 146 PS (107 kW; 144 hp), however since then, a design change in the front end of the car has forced engine alterations. Additionally, new MUA-5H five-speed manual transmission also introduced.

Auto air conditioner

* * * During the first quarter of 2005, a 2.5 4JK1-TC 116 PS (85 kW; 114 hp), the second DDi iTEQ engine, was introduced and offered as economical choice to replace its aging predecessor (4JA1-T was concurrently available for that year only). A mid-cycle refresh brought many models fitted with a new front bumper that incorporated an “instant spoiler” underneath, 4×4 models and Hi-Lander’s suspensions were raised up 25 millimeters extra.

Premium leather seat

* * * In 2007, Isuzu celebrated its 50th anniversary in Thailand with “Gold Series” models sold for the 2008 model year. The Hi-Lander Cab4 model with the VGS turbodiesel engine became available for the first time. The 4×4 models get a new front bumper design with chrome accents. Also added was the choice of a 2.5l 4-cylinder engine in LS 4×4 and Hi-Lander models.
During the middle of the first quarter of 2008, the Rodeo LS and Hi-Lander SpaceCab were also fitted with the 3.0-liter VVGS Turbodiesel engine to fill all the remaining gaps in lineup.

Power height adjustment

* * * In the early fourth quarter of 2008, Isuzu introduced D-Max Platinum models for 2009 to replace the outgoing Gold Series. LS 4×4 and Hi-Lander received new fascia; chrome on LS 4×4 and semi platinum-silver on Hi-Lander. Minor-modified headlamps and new fog lamps for platinum look. 4×2 SLX and SX derived fascias from 4×4/Hi-Lander (before Platinum’s fascia). Chrome fascia for 3.0 SLX models and color-keyed fascia for SX. Top heads of 3 DDi iTEQ engines changed from gold to platinum. Some models dropped 4JJ1-TC 3.0l engine. All retooled to be acceptable with Biodiesel B5. All SpaceCab models featured new middle pillars called Safety Pillar Cab; pillars and door beams larger and thicker. Not all Cab4 models received retooled rear suspension called Super Flex Plus suspension. Spark EX also received new gauge and indicator. D-Max Platinum models commenced on sale from 15 October.

Glove compartment and article storage

* * * In the middle of September 2009, Isuzu introduced the D-Max Super Platinum models. SL model was dropped. Highline SLX 4×2 models received same fascia and front bumper as Hi-Lander / LS 4×4 style, new 16″ wheels and newer styles of alloy wheels for SLX / Hi-Lander / LS 4×4, newer rear bumper, and new “Super Platinum” marque at tailgate. LS 4×4 models received skid plate attached under bumper in brighter silver, newer side step. * * * Isuzu D-Max Model Line Up
The Isuzu D-Max is a pickup truck manufactured since 2002 by Isuzu Motors. It shares the same platform with several General Motors (GM) mid-size trucks in the United States such as the Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon and Isuzu i-Series. The Chevrolet Colorado name is also applied to a rebadged version of the D-Max in the Middle East and Thailand, although not identical to the American version. The original D-Max is sold alongside the Chevrolet Colorado in the Thai market where they are both built. In Australasia between 2003 and 2008, the D-Max was marketed as the Holden Rodeo, but has since been relaunched as the Holden Colorado. The Isuzu D-Max itself was also introduced in Australia during 2008, selling alongside the Holden-badged offering.

REGULAR CAB 4WD Standard

* * * China and Iran
In China Great Wall and Foday produced the models. In Iran it was produced by Bahman and SAIPA.
In Australia and New Zealand, the D-Max was sold as the third generation Holden Rodeo (RA) between 2003 and 2008, before being facelifted into the form of the Holden Colorado. This was a result of the GM-Isuzu split resulting in GM losing the right to use the “Rodeo” name. As with Rodeo, Colorado is available as either two- or four-wheel drive and in a range of body styles including single cab, space cab and crew cab. Power is provided by a range of petrol and diesel engines. Of the petrol engines, Holden offers a 2.4-litre four-cylinder as well as the Australian-made 3.6-litre Alloytec engine. The diesel powerplant is a four-cylinder Isuzu 4JJ1 unit displacing 3.0 litres. The main difference between the Colorado and the Rodeo is the revised body work from the A-pillar forward.

REGULAR CAB 2WD Standard

* * * Engine choices for that year till end of third quarter of 2004 derived from its direct predecessor: 4JH1-T 3.0 and 4JA1-T 2.5.
In the third quarter of 2006, the D-Max received a minor redesign and the introduction of a third DDi iTEQ engine, 3.0 4JJ1-TCX. This engine is a modified 4JJ1-TC, incorporating a new Variable Valve Geometry Turbo (VGS). The extra power warranted an introduction of new transmissions as well: the MUX 5-Speed manual and MaxMatic-III automatic transmission. All models equipped with Xenon headlamps were changed to projector headlamps instead. Also introduced was the new “Hexapod-plot” interior. Other DDi iTEQ engines were also tweaked a bit for extra power and efficiency.
During October 2008, the Isuzu D-Max was launched in Australia, alongside the almost identical Holden Colorado. Officially available in Australia as its own brand under the marketing name Isuzu UTE Australia, separate to the medium-heavy truck manufacturer, Isuzu Australia.
In June 2012, the RC series Holden Colorado was replaced by the RG model based on the second-generation D-Max body.
New Zealand
In June 2010, Isuzu Utes New Zealand became the official distributor for Isuzu D-Max in New Zealand.
Europe
In the United Kingdom, Isuzu UK is the official distributor for the Isuzu D-Max.
South America
Julie Beamer, director of GM Chile, announced on 5 March 2008 to workers of the only remaining automobile factory in Chile, that said factory would be closed down on 31 July that year. The only vehicle that was in production at the time was the Chevrolet D-Max. The announcement came shortly after then-president of Venezuela Hugo Chávez reduced the import quota for cars in Venezuela, the main export market for the Chilean-made Chevrolet D-Max, but GM Chile said in its official statement that the reason behind the end of production in Arica was the lack of favorable conditions for vehicle manufacturing in Chile and fierce competition from many other car manufacturers and countries on Chile’s car market.
Chevrolet Colorado
The Thai-market Colorado is smaller than the North American model of the same name and almost unrelated. In late January 2006, Chevrolet introduced a G-80 differential lock system as optional for most Colorado trim levels. This feature is not available on the D-Max. The Thai-market Colorado received a minor redesign in late 2007.
Late first quarter of 2008, Chevrolet also introduced Colorado 4×2 2.5 with diesel dual fuel system via CNG tank. Switchable between diesel (65) and compressed natural gas (35) as the divided aspect (65:35); moreover also can use diesel purely as well. Biodiesel B5 is also acceptable. Location of tank is on the bed behind cab. Available for two cab styles.
In March 2011, Chevrolet revealed the prototype version of all-new Colorado at Bangkok Motor Show, not related anymore to D-Max, shown as Extended cab with rear access system, and some of high-tech equipment, In June 2011, Chevrolet revealed crew cab in adventure concept at Buenos Aires, Argentina (this car also shown at Frankfurt Auto Show in September 2011), and in July 2011, a Holden version of crew-cab version concept car got its premiere at Australian International Motor Show, but the interior of this car looked like production models any more than 2 concepts before.
On 9 September 2011, General Motors (Thailand) opened the diesel engine manufacture plant, to make the “Duramax” engine, as the VM Motori rebadge engine (same as old 2-liter diesel Captiva) with 2.5- or 2.8-liter, manual and automatic, 2WD or 4WD. New 2012 Isuzu D-MAX Pickup Truck is the Chevy Colorado’s Asian Twin.
Isuzu has long abandoned the U.S. passenger and truck market but it continues to have strong ties with General Motors, which was once its primary stockholder. In 2011, the Japanese automaker revealed its all-new D-MAX pickup truck, which was designed in cooperation with GM and is a sister model to the 2012 Chevrolet Colorado. Albeit on separate occasions, both pickup truck models were presented in Thailand. On the outside, the new 2012 D-MAX features different front and rear end styling treatments as well as bespoke trim parts, while inside, the changes over the Colorado are limited to the color options and the instrument panel. The body-on-frame Isuzu D-MAX launches in Thailand with three turbodiesel engines, including a pair of 2.5-liter units producing 115HP and 136HP, and a larger 3.0-liter powerplant with 177-horses.
As with previous models, the 2012 Isuzu Dmax shares its ladder chassis platform, body construction, mechanical componentry and interior design (dash, centre stack, steering wheel and doors) with the 2013 North American Chevrolet Colorado. From A-pillar on back Isuzu Dmax appears to be a clone of Chevy Colorado but gets its own visual identity due to an aggressive angular front fascia with upswept headlights and a more conventional grille design.
Dmax uses Isuzu’s own engine and drivetrain. Isuzu’s iTEQ engine has been retained but has been tuned up. 2500 cc engine now comes in two configurations; normal turbo 87 kW power with 280Nm of torque and 101 kW of power and VGS Turbo with 320Nm of torque. If you want more power you can opt for four-cylinder 3000 cc 4JJ1-TC iTEQ common-rail diesel engine with VGS Turbo which now has the power of 132 kW with 380Nm of torque. Engines performance have been upgraded with Variable geometry turbocharger (VGS Turbo) and Isuzu Dmax’s engines pass Euro V emission standard. 2012 Dmax still comes with 5-speed manual but has unvelied new 5-speed “Rev-Tronic” automatic transmission with sport mode (2011 model had 4 speed automatic transmission). 4WD models have been renamed from “Rodeo” to “V-Cross”, and transfer case has been renamed from “Touch-on-the-fly” button to new “Terrain command” system that uses spin system to allow for seamless changing of drive modes from 4-Wheel to 2-Wheel Drive mode. Isuzu front suspension made up of independent double wishbone with coil-spring setup and a rear suspension made up of over slung leaf-springs installed above a special long span rear axle make for a comfortable driving experience. Ecuador is the only country where this generation D-Max is available with a gasoline engine, an Opel-based C24 with 16 valves and double overhead camshafts supplied from Brazil where the lower-grade versions of the Chevrolet S10 still rely on a flex-fuel 8-valve SOHC version which also served as a basis for the Vortec 2400 industrial engine.
Isuzu new rugged ladder-frame chassis platform dubbed “i-GRIP” (Isuzu Gravity Responsive Intelligent Platform) underpinning the new D-Max makes 42% stronger than its predecessors leading to improved ride and handling. The frame includes improved cross bracing at the rear, improving stability under loads and while towing, while also “ensuring long-term durability when used regularly in harsh environments”. Longer wheelbase of 3095mm – 45mm longer than before – is now standard on all three body styles. This is good news for double cab users as rear riders not only get more leg space but also more comfortable seats.
D-Max would continue to be offered in all three body styles: Single Cab, Space Cab and Crew Cab. Customers will also continue to have a choice of rear-wheel drive 4×2 and four-wheel drive 4×4 models. Space Extra Cab has laterally opening door to give easier access to the rear seat. Isuzu D-Max has an advanced safety package, with features including high-tensile steel, electronic stability control ESC, traction control (TCS), ABS, emergency brake assist, a number of airbags and Electronic brakeforce distribution EBD. EBD detects the payload weight and modulates the rear braking force to compensate. In ESC fitted models ABS now goes to 4-channel 4-sensor type instead of the current 3-channel 4-sensor.

The D-Max gets more storage spaces. Isuzu Entertainment System includes eight speaker comprising two large 6 x 9-inch front speakers and a roof-mounted Exciter speaker sound system replete with surround sound in the newly designed dash along with ‘iGENIE’ navigation system which include support for real-time traffic reports, and is equipped with standard Bluetooth and portable music player connectivity. Designed to Shape the Future of Acura/Acura Precision Concept Press Releases

Acura Precision Concept Points to Bold Future for Acura Design
– 2016-01-12
DETROIT
The Acura Precision Concept model made its world debut at the 2016 North American International Auto Show today, pointing toward a bolder, more distinctive future for Acura vehicle design. The Acura Precision Concept was developed by the Acura Design Studio in California to express the Acura brand DNA of “Precision Crafted Performance.”
“There is no more clear promise for the Acura brand than Precision Crafted Performance,” said Jon Ikeda, vice president and general manager of Acura. “We’re committed to infusing this core Acura promise into every facet of our products and every aspect of our relationship with the customer.”

With an emphasis on high-contrast details and the intersection of modern, sheer surfaces and muscular, organic sculpting, the Acura Precision Concept communicates Acura’s focus on performance and prestige through its ultra-low and wide stance, long dash-to-axle ratio, deeply sculpted surfaces and the debut of a new Diamond Pentagon grille.
“The Acura Precision Concept is more than simply a concept vehicle, it is a design study model that literally will shape the direction of all future Acura products around our Precision Crafted Performance DNA,” said Dave Marek, Acura global creative director. “The Acura Precision Concept is the leading edge of a renewed commitment to delivering Precision Crafted Performance in every facet of the product experience and creating a powerful and very exciting direction for the next generation of Acura models.”
The Acura Precision Concept’s crouched and athletic stance is further emphasized by its deeply sculpted side surfaces pouring over swelling rear wheel arches covering 22-inch wheels and tires. The forward-looking concept also features signature lighting designs – in front with its Jewel Constellation LED headlights composed of organically arranged fractal elements, and in back with floating LED taillights.
A key design theme, dubbed “quantum continuum,” is seen in the seamless transition of materials and structure from the exterior to the interior of the vehicle, which is further highlighted by the absence of a b-pillar. The large door rocker panel flows into the interior side sill, transitioning into a cantilever for the floating rear seats. The rear center high-mounted stoplight becomes an architecture element piercing the rear glass and then flowing down to help form the structure for the metal airfoil shape of the rear headrests.
The elegant and powerful exterior is matched by its dramatic interior design, where cantilevered surfaces meet with striking tones, expressive surfacing and modern detailing. Of particular note are the double-layered instrument panel, the high-contrast front seat surfaces, the ultra-thin “floating” rear seats, evoking the look of modern lounge furniture, and the hand-crafted audio speaker grilles made of exotic wood.
The driver’s space is highlighted by a compact, race-inspired, sports steering wheel with paddle shifters and Integrated Dynamics System (IDS) controls, a floating center meter, a driver’s head-up display, a cantilevered center stack and an ultra-wide, thin and curved center display screen.
New Acura HMI Concept
The Acura Precision Concept also explores a new approach for Acura’s digital human-machine interface (HMI), enabling a more intuitive, advanced and seamless connection between man and machine. The ultra-wide and curved center screen is operated by a floating touch pad suspended on the cantilevered center stack. Upon entry, the system scans each occupant and selects personalized features and functions, including maps, audio and customized vehicle performance settings.
Acura Precision Concept dimensions:
Width 84 inches
Length 204 inches
Height 52 inches
Wheelbase 122 inches
Wheel/Tire – 5-spoke machined wheels

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., USA, January 8, 2019 – Delivering on customer expectations for the full integration of mobile services into the vehicle experience, Honda is demonstrating its prototype Honda Dream Drive, the automotive industry’s first integrated driver and passenger infotainment, commerce, services and rewards dashboards within the vehicle environment. First shown as a concept at CES 2017, Honda Dream Drive has evolved to offer drivers and passengers a broad range of convenient services and engaging entertainment options, while minimizing the potential for driver distraction. Developed in collaboration with Connected Travel, a connected vehicle platform and application services company, Honda is offering demos of Honda Dream Drive in the all-new 2019 Honda Passport at its CES booth #7900 in the North Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Jan. 8-11, 2019.

The new prototype mobile-based dashboards provide services and experiences designed specifically for both drivers and passengers:
Honda Dream Drive: Driver demonstrates the expansion of Honda’s in-vehicle payment technology concept, first introduced at CES 2017 with Visa. It enables drivers to pay for goods and services like fuel, movie tickets and parking, make restaurant reservations, food ordering for pickup or delivery, and even share the driver’s location with friends and family.
Honda Dream Drive: Passenger offers passengers the ability to play mixed reality games, watch movies, listen to music, read original comics stories, use travel applications, explore new points of interest along the route, and control the radio and cabin features – all from the passenger’s mobile device.
Moreover, customers will have access to purchase Honda Dream Drive content, movie or event tickets, order ahead, and a variety of other convenience options provided by Honda’s collaborators.
“Honda has teamed up with industry leaders who want to understand how to best provide in-vehicle services to our customers,” said John Moon, managing director, Strategic Partnerships, Honda Innovations. “These collaborations are important to test consumer desire so we can understand how to mutually serve our customers.”
Partnering with leading brands on voice-enabled driver applications
Honda Dream Drive is both voice and touch enabled, providing users with convenient, safe and easy access to services. Honda collaborated with a host of industry leaders – Atom Tickets, Chevron U.S.A. Inc., The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®, Grubhub, Glympse, iHeartRadio, IPS Group, Arrive, Parkopedia, Phillips 66, Yelp, and USAA – for its voice enabled, driver dashboard for parking, gasoline payment, restaurant reservations, ticketing, audio, location sharing, and rewards.
Honda collaborated with AAA, DC, Entercom/RADIO.COM, the LEGO Group, Silvergate Media and the Octonauts team, and Univision Music to create its passenger dashboard for entertainment, education, travel, commerce and rewards experiences.
Expanded in-vehicle payment partnerships
Since 2016, Honda has worked with Visa to build and enhance the in-vehicle payment experience to make payments more convenient and secure. Now, Honda is expanding its in-vehicle payment collaboration to include Mastercard and PayPal. Collectively, Honda is working with these partners to create the vehicle experience of the future.
Rewards Program for Honda customers
In an effort to create new value for vehicle ownership and use, Honda Developer Studio is user testing a new points-based rewards program to benefit drivers and passengers for using Honda products and services. Drivers and passengers can earn rewards points for participating in a variety of activities including purchasing services, watching and listening to media, and playing games.
“The gamification of everyday travel experiences with rewards points provides Honda with a unique opportunity to connect with its drivers and passengers, to establish a more personal engaging relationship with them, and to enhance customers’ daily lives with the automotive industry’s first frequent driving and riding program,” said Bryan Biniak, CEO of Connected Travel®. “Honda drivers and passengers earn points from common activities as well as extraordinary experiences created with market leading brands and developers, and then redeem their reward points at their favorite local and online retailers.”
Interested partners and innovators can meet with Honda Developer Studio and Connected Travel representatives at CES, January 8-11, 2019. To learn more about Honda Developer Studio, visit Developer.Hondainnovations.com and follow @HondaInnovation on Twitter.
